churchChurch, Near Kuata Island
A few of us were lucky enough to witness a local church service. Fijians are naturally talented singers, and any chance to hear their harmonic voices was a privelege not to be missed.
danceTraditional Fijian Dances, Beachcomber Island
The performers looked like they were having more fun than the observing tourists during this performance at the Beachcomber Island lodge. Christmas lights and decorations added to the festive atmosphere.

This moment of tranquility will persist in my memory throughout my life.
hutThatched hut, near Kuata Island
Near a local school, this hut was an ideal local to find relief from the tropical sun.
kuataKuata Island
A climb around the rocky outcropping led me to many interesting tidepools, some of which were large enough to dive into with my mask and snorkle. The coral reefs offshore were the most spectacular I`ve seen.

Some fellow travelers and I stragegically planted ourself at this strategic location to wait for sunset. We were not disappointed.
whitesandOffshore Beachcomber Island
The white sands of Beachcomber Island emerged from the blue depths as the ferry drew closer to the small island. I looked down in search for marine life, anticipating the coral reef and shark dives that were to come.
rockyshoreRocky shore, Kuata Island
Kuata was more rugged and less developed than the touristy Beachcomber. I enjoyed the laid back atmosphere the local owners provided, which included fresh coconut knocked from the palms.
paradiseWhite sand beaches
The white sands contrasted the bright blue water and dark volcanic rocks.
